About
MamaDoula.
My journey to becoming a doula began with my own birth story.
I have three amazing children and each one was a very different birth experience. My first was definitely the most challenging. While I did have a birth plan in place, which involved an un-medicated birth in a birth center. I was transferred to a hospital early on in my labor, experienced several medical interventions, and eventually had an emergency cesarean.
Other people made almost all of the decisions for me. I felt powerless.
This caused feelings of helplessness and I later struggled with postpartum depression along with all of the other challenges that face a new mother. I understand first-hand how challenging this time of transition can be. I did recover successfully and went on to have two more unmedicated births at home, surrounded by love and support.
After recovering from the traumatic miscarriage of my fourth child, I knew in my heart that becoming a doula was the right career path for me. Women need women, that they can rely on for support.
Informational, emotional, and physical support is vital for a healthy outcome.
This is where my philosophies as a doula soundly reside.
My goal as a doula is to help restore women’s faith in their bodies, not only to handle childbirth, but also to appreciate the incredible transforming life experience that occurs when a woman gives birth fully aware.
As birth unfolds (births rarely go as planned), I will be a constant presence to support your birth preferences and do my best to ensure a safe and sacred environment.
Many people are unaware of how to take control of their birth choices, and that these choices should be respected. I am dedicated to helping families find joy in the birth of their child. I will work tirelessly to assist in establishing a healthy bond between mother and baby and a rewarding postpartum recovery period.
Supporting women in childbirth and beyond is my heart-centered work.
